Disruptive Times, New Leadership

The business and political worlds we’ve known since the post-war period are changing profoundly and intensely. They are undergoing a process that, in Schumpeterian terms, we would call a “gale of creative destruction”. Technology, capitalism, politics, and geography act as natural disruptive forces. New business challenges, new social values, and new political demands are emerging. These disruptive times bring threats but also opportunities, both for building businesses that are more committed to new social values and environmental sustainability, and for implementing new, more inclusive, political policies. But there is no single blueprint or guide, and that leads to uncertainty and fear in the face of these changes. In this XXXIV Círculo de Economía Meeting we will engage with some of these new challenges and opportunities.
